KEIRA Knightley’s role in the West End production of The Misanthrope is causing tensions in her relationship with Rupert Friend, it has been claimed.
The play is said to be such a big deal for the British actress, she is dedicating all her time to perfecting her performance — leaving Friend to his own devices.
“This play is a big deal for Keira,” said a source close to the the star. “Unlike films, there are no second takes on stage.
“She knows she’s got to get it right.
“She’s been pretty wound up and it’s meant quite a bit of tension at home with Rupert.”
Keira, 24, recently hinted her romance with Rupert was on the rocks.
“Do I recognize being an extremely well-known young actress? Yes,” she said of the similarities between herself and her character Jennifer in The Misanthrope.
“And she’s in the middle of a world full of people who are quite a bit older than her. She’s having a problem with her boyfriend. No comment.”
